Kolonia, Pohnpei, FSM, June 2026. As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen MCS systems and support more effective operations, a new initiative was established in the Secretariat midway through 2026. Created following the Secretariat's participation in a Futures Workshop, The Futures Group brings together MCS experts from senior support staff to build a comprehensive understanding of MCS system inputs, processes, and outputs. The group meets weekly to identify potential issues before they arise, triage unexpected problems, and explore ways to improve system operations and better support those who rely on them.
