The Role of a National Observer Coordinator
The National Observer Coordinator is the main point of contact for everything related to the observer program in a country or territory. Their responsibilities include:
- Coordinating with the ROP secretariat and observer providers
- Updating the ROP secretariat when their contact details change
- Ensuring observers from their country receive proper training and support
- Reporting any issues or changes directly to the ROP secretariat
CMM 2018-05 Requirement (Paragraph 13): “Each CCM shall nominate a WCPFC National Observer Coordinator, who shall be the contact point on matters related to the ROP, and keep the Secretariat informed of any changes to the Coordinator and his/her contact information.”
“CCM” stands for “Cooperating, non-Cooperating, or Participating Member”—basically, each member country or territory of the WCPFC.
